We meet November 11 at 6:30 to discuss Life, God, and other Small Topics.
If you are hungering for intellectual stimulation, spiritual growth, and some good food and fellowship, the Men’s Supper Club is the place for you. We meet on the first Tuesday of each month. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, November 11, at 6:30 p.m. in the Garnsworthy room at St. John’s.
This fall we are looking at selections from Eric Metaxas’s volume Life, God, and Other Small Topics. This book is a collection of essays from Socrates and the City – a speakers’ forum that asked major Christian thinkers to ponder today’s most important questions.
On Tuesday, November 11, we will discuss what N.T. Wright has to say about the elements of the Christian faith, the evidence for the truth of these elements, and how they add up to a compelling faith. N.T. Wright is a respected Christian scholar who has published an extensive range of books and papers. With his research into the what and why of Christianity, he offers persuasive arguments to the skeptics, and a deepened faith to the believers.
If you would like to attend, it is recommended (but not required) that you read Wright’s chapter – Simply Christian: Why Christianity Makes Sense – pages 195-233 in Life, God, and Other Small Topics beforehand. If you would like help finding a copy of this book please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. It is appreciated if you sign up in advance – there is a sheet posted by the entrance – so we can plan for the meal. We will be asking for a fee to cover the cost of the dinner.
