A day of learning. A day about learning.
Registration is now open for Conference 2015, the annual conference of the Centre for Excellence in Christian Education (CECE). Throughout the year, the CECE offers resources to lay and clerical people who are involved in delivering, improving, and promoting Christian education for all ages. The CECE also strives to be a centre for community, with the highlight of the year being the annual conference.
The conference takes place at St. John’s York Mills church and runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The day includes a keynote talk in the morning, sessions and workshops throughout the day, and opportunities to meet and talk with other attendees. Lunch is provided and child care is available.
This year we are pleased to welcome the Rev. Stephanie Douglas-Bowman to the CECE lectern. Stephanie is the pastor at Christ Memorial Church in Oshawa. She is an award-winning freelance writer with a special interest in the discipleship of children in their family settings. She has written on faith parenting, has spoken on the topic of discipleship at a previous Leading Children’s Ministry Conference, and is currently doing doctoral studies at Wycliffe College to explore discipleship in the domestic context. Known as a creative and engaging speaker, Stephanie’s wisdom is informed by her own family experiences with her three children.
Rev. Stephanie will speak on the topic of:
Why your ministry to children and families matters.
Sometimes in the busyness of Sunday morning and in the course of the ups and downs in ministry to children and parents, we can lose site of the Kingdom value of our work. Your ministry is Kingdom work, and Stephanie wants to encourage you in your call and equip you with practical new ideas to bring home to your local communities. Stephanie will share findings from her doctoral research as well as ideas that have worked in her ministry as a priest and in her role as a mother.
