St. John’s is welcoming a new youth ministry leader who will be taking charge of the senior youth group (Grades 9 to 12). Lavenya Lavindra has been visiting St. John’s Children’s Ministry over the past year and has been teaching the grades 6 to 8 class once a month. She is a recent University of Toronto graduate where she studied Life Sciences and received her Honours BSc.
Lavenya was raised in the Hindu faith and encountered Jesus Christ at the age of 14. She welcomed Jesus into her life and she was never the same again. She is passionate about sharing the Good News of God’s love and redemption through Jesus Christ and fulfilling the Great Commission “to make disciples of all nations” (Matt 28:19). Her hope for the Senior Youth is to encourage them to grow deeper in their faith and in their relationship with God. She also hopes to create an atmosphere that makes young people feel welcome, so that they will feel at home among friends and will be comfortable asking questions and exploring matters of faith and of life.
Welcome, Lavenya, to the community of faith at St. John’s!
