Summer Soul begins this Wednesday July 6 at 7 p.m. with: Introduction to Mindfulness. An evening featuring a video, discussion, and practice. We will watch a video interview with Professor Mark Williams of Oxford University, followed by a gentle discussion and mindfulness practice.
Mindfulness, Professor Williams says, is the awareness of what is happening in both our inner and outer worlds, as it is happening. We live in a world of apparent abundance, yet people often feel stressed, unhappy, and overwhelmed by events and demands. We can learn and use techniques of mindfulness to manage these stressors, be more relaxed, and cope more effectively.
