On Wednesday, August 24, Summer Soul takes a look at the ‘ACT’ approach to finding fulfilment and happiness in life with all its ups and downs.
The evening starts with a video interview, and is followed by a discussion and an opportunity to practice techniques that we’ve learned. Anne Crosthwait, Community Leader (Canada) of Contemplative Fire will be your host.
This week we will listen to an interview with Dr. Russ Harris, trainer and author of several books on ‘Acceptance & Commitment Therapy’ (ACT). ACT gets its name from one of its core messages, accept what is out your personal control and commit to action that improves and enriches your life.
In his interview, Mindfulness, Zombies, And How To Unhook Yourself From Thoughts, Russ will share why popular ideas about happiness are misleading, inaccurate, and often make us miserable, how to untangle from unhelpful thoughts and handle difficult emotions more skillfully and the counter intuitive truth about lasting happiness and fulfilment.
There will be opportunity to take part in meditative mindful activities that we can incorporate into our spiritual practice.
