It’s engaging. It might be life-changing.
The hugely successful Alpha course has been retooled for a new generation – and it’s returning to Yonge Lawrence Fellowship.
Alpha launches at the Yonge Lawrence Fellowship on Thursday evening, September 28, 2017, with an introductory evening. It’s your chance to find out what Alpha is all about and decide if this is something that’s right for you. The evening starts at 7 p.m. with a shared meal followed by a short video presentation and a discussion. It’s open, it’s informal, and it’s free.
What is Alpha? Alpha is a series of about twelve sessions that engage people in conversations about faith, life, and Jesus. Every session includes a meal, a talk given on video, and a discussion. You can think of Alpha as “Christianity 101” except that it’s interactive with an emphasis on asking questions and exploring ideas.
Who is Alpha for? Alpha is for everyone. People from all backgrounds, religious beliefs and viewpoints are welcome. Listen to the stories of two people who have attended Alpha.
Who else attends Alpha? Alpha is running in over 150 countries. In Canada, 640,000 people have attended Alpha, with 120,000 in the past two years alone. Alpha ran at St. John’s York Mills a few years ago; now a new Alpha is coming to Yonge Lawrence Fellowship.
How do I get started with Alpha? Simply come to our introductory session! Bring a friend if you like. If you do plan to attend, it will be helpful (but not required) if you let us know via the contact form at ylfellowship.com. Afterward, you can decide if Alpha is right for you. The complete Alpha runs every Thursday for twelve sessions, until December 14.
