Christmas Services

Rescheduled due to the Ice Storm

It is with the greatest reluctance that the clergy and wardens have decided that, for health and safety reasons, we cannot hold services at St. John’s York Mills this December 24 and 25. There is no heat, light or water in the building.

We are planning on formally celebrating Christmas at Epiphany – Sunday, January 5th with as much splendour as our traditional Christmas Candlelight Service. Watch this space for details.

Our verger and sexton are working to minimize damage to the building’s systems so that, when power returns, we will be able to hold worship services again. We are hoping to hold regular services on December 29 – Christmas 1 and we’ll let you know as soon as we can whether or not the church is open.

Without power, there is no voice mail. In the case of a pastoral emergency, you may contact one of the clergy via cell phone:

  • The Rev. Canon Dr. Drew MacDonald:  647-237-5591
  • The Rev. Anne Crosthwait: 416-834-3400

We do encourage you to celebrate wherever you can. We have confirmed with two nearby Anglican Churches that they have power and are holding services:
