Compass Groups

What are they? – Compass groups are small groups that gather in people’s homes or in the church to discuss scripture, life’s ups and downs, and generally to support one another with prayer and fellowship.

Who are they for? – Everyone! And all are invited to attend. Compass Groups are an excellent way to explore Christian life, to ask spiritual questions and discuss topics that matter, and to deepen faith.

Where and when do they meet? – There are groups that meet both daytime and evenings. Many groups meet once a week; others meet once every two weeks or twice a month. New members are always welcome.

Below are examples of where different groups meet and when. If you are interested and would like to know what groups are currently running, please contact Rev. Anne Crosthwait by writing to acrosthwait@sjym.ca or by calling 416-225-6611 x226. We will match you with a group and you will have an opportunity to attend and see if it is a fit for you.

One Compass Group helps you craft a Rhythm of Life

The Companion’s Journey is a course of six sessions, meeting every Friday afternoon from October to November in the Marsh Room at St. John’s. Offered by Contemplative Fire, it guides you to craft a personal Rhythm of Life based on prayer, study and action. It is a good introduction to the Contemplative Christian approach to life. Rev. Anne is leading this group.
