Supporting Local Parishes

The Anglican Church is universal. But it is in our own local parish that each of us experiences our faith most directly and intimately. And just as our Diocese as a whole has needs, so too do the individual parishes. The Our Faith – Our Hope campaign recognizes this with a $17,000,000 allocation to support local parish projects and programs.

United in the everyday miracles of community, our vibrant parish communities are essential to the mission of Jesus, to the life of the Church, and to our call to be Christ to one another in our day-to-day lives.

The future viability of parish life is a key component of the campaign. To help each parish, 40% of the funds raised up to the parish goal and 75% of funds raised beyond the parish goal are designated for use by the parish to address local capital or programmatic needs.
St. John’s has been blessed with a strong foundation and inheritance upon which to build for the future. To make us a more welcoming church and to position us for continued growth, the proceeds from this campaign will be used to improve the common areas of the church. With the assistance of an architect, St. John’s will seek to improve:

The Sanctuary: redesign altar, new carpet, refinish floors, refinish pews, new lighting

The Garnsworthy Room: create a multi-media centre, fresh paint, new window treatments, new furniture, update kitchen.

The Narthex: fresh paint, improved lighting, new furniture as needed.

Forty per cent of our $885,000 goal is $354,000 – we are almost there and remember, we get to keep 75% of everything we raise above our goal! Please consider this as you make your pledge.

SJYM Progress Report:

Our campaign has now reached a total of $652,200 in pledges. This represents 74% of our overall goal of $885,000.

Thank you to everyone who is helping to strengthen
the Diocese of Toronto, as well as our own parish.
