On Ash Wednesday, March 5, we are having a morning service at 7:30 a.m. and an evening service at 7:30 p.m. On the following Wednesday mornings in Lent, there will be a service at 7:30 a.m.
The morning Ash Wednesday service will be in the chapel (please enter by the main door); the evening service will be in the sanctuary (please enter by the side door). The services will include the imposition of ashes, where ashes are drawn on the forehead of each worshipper in the shape of a cross. The ashes remind us of our own mortality – “remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return” – on this first day of Lent. Lent is a time of penitence, a time to forgo earthly wants, a time to reflect on where we’ve been, and a time to be renewed in our spiritual journey. Both services conclude with Holy Communion.
On the following Wednesdays in Lent – March 12 to April 16 – we will have a service of Holy Communion at 7:30 a.m. in the chapel.
