Advent and Christmas 2017

Come Home for Christmas

1202 Christmas BlessingsDuring this holy season of Advent and Christmas, why not come home to St. John’s? Our family of faith would love to welcome you!

Advent — Sunday December 3 to Sunday December 24, 2017 — is  a season of waiting: waiting for the birth of Jesus, the incarnation of God among us, and at the same time anticipating his return as Lord of Earth. It’s also a season of preparing: putting up Christmas lights and the tree, shopping for gifts, making travel plans to be with loved ones at Christmas.

Make a service at St. John’s part of your Christmas preparations, and think about inviting a friend or family member, too. Coming up on the third Sunday of Advent (December 17) there’s the beautiful Candlelight and Carols service. And this year, the fourth Sunday of Advent is also Christmas Eve.

Sunday, December 24 we have three services. At 10:30 a.m. there’s The Open Door, a contemporary service of music and teaching. At 5:00 p.m. is the lively Family Christmas (with communion) and finally at 10:00 p.m. is the Classic Candlelight Christmas, a traditional service of Holy Eucharist that will fill your heart with the holiness of the season.

Christmas Day — Monday, December 25 — is the wonderful day when we welcome Jesus, not with clamorous excitement but with deep joy. We gather at The Sacred Table at 9:00 a.m. for a quiet but heartfelt celebration.
